Jason Horgan, D.V.M.

Dr. Horgan is a South Florida native who grew up in Hollywood. He received his doctorate in veterinary medicine at the Ohio State University in June of 2004. He completed a small animal surgery and medicine internship at the Oradell Animal Hospital in June of 2005. He then went on to complete a small animal emergency/critical care residency here at VSSF and received his board certification in Emergency/Critical Care Medicine in October of 2009.


Because of his strong interest in surgery he decided to pursue a second residency in small animal surgery also at VSSF. He received his board certification in Surgery in March, 2013. Dr. Horgan is VSSF'S staff surgeon. He performs soft tissue, orthopedic, neurological, oncological and minimally invasive surgery as well as attends to emergency/critical care cases personally.


Among other treatment modalities he will continue to offer endoscopy and long term ventilation. His unique background, being trained in two specialties that often go hand in hand, make him particularly qualified to deal with difficult cases. Most important to Dr. Horgan is spending time with his wife, Robin, his two boys Rylee and Rowan, and the rest of his family.

Dr. Marcos Unis graduated in 2007 with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Masters in Veterinary Anatomy and became a board certified veterinary surgeon in February of 2012. During his academic surgical training at several of the top veterinary colleges in the country he had the privilege to work with some of the best veterinary specialists in their fields. During his internship at the University of Illinois he published an article with Dr. Ann Johnson (former president of ACVS and a world renowned orthopedist). He also had the opportunity to work with Dr. Avery Bennett who is renowned for his experience in reconstructive, soft tissue and minimally invasive surgery. During Dr. Unis’ clinical year at North Carolina State University he also had the opportunity to work closely with Dr. Dennis Marcellin, Simon Roe and Duncan Lacelles who are all well known for their research and work with the advancement of the new total hip replacement system and limb prosthesis. Most importantly, during his surgical residency at Kansas State University he had the opportunity to train under 6 board certified surgeons who were some of the best mentors in the country. He gained valuable experience in advanced orthopedic, soft tissue, neurosurgery and minimally invasive surgery. He is most passionate about minimally invasive surgery and any new techniques that will minimize discomfort from surgery and provide the safest and fastest recovery.

Dr. Unis has always been known for his attention to detail, eye for research and his diverse surgical experience.
He believes he has a unique ability to make clients feel at ease with their decision to pursue surgery and give them all the current information, so that they have a good understanding of the particular surgery that is necessary for their loved ones.
